Feast Day -- October 4
Saint Francis was the son of an Italian cloth merchant. His father wanted Francis to work with him, but Francis wanted to tell people about Jesus instead. One day while he was praying, Jesus asked him to rebuild the Church. Francis knew that God was calling him to do this work. Soon others joined him to preach the Good News of Jesus. He helped people see the beauty of the world, especially the birds and animals.
Patron of animals, the environment, and Cub Scouts. Saint Francis has the stigmata, the wounds of Christ, on his hands and feet.
Saint Francis, watch over our pets and all the animals. Help us to always remember that God loves all creatures. Amen.
