Saint Teresa of Avila
1515-1582
Feast Day -- October 15
Saint Teresa of Avila was born in Spain. After she had been a nun in a Carmelite monastery for twenty years, she dedicated herself to reforming the many Carmelite convents. She wrote new rules based on teachings of Jesus and the Ten commandments. Teresa understood that it was important to obey God's laws in order to lead a good and holy life. But she also knew it was important to have fun. She danced in the convents to make the other sisters happy.
Patron of headaches and lace makers. Saint Teresa is the patron of headaches because she suffered from migraines.
Let nothing disturb you; Let nothing frighten you. (Saint Teresa's prayer.)
