This leaflet is an examination of two kinds of discernment needed to grow in maturity.

Webster's New World Dictionary defines the verb discern as , 'to separate a thing mentally from another or others, to recognize as separate or different, to perceive or recognize, to make out clearly." Thus discernment is the ability to perceive and recognize difference and to see clearly. Interestingly, one definition of maturity is the ability to perceive differences between two similar but different circumstances, situations, or solutions. We need discernment if we are going to grow in maturity.

In this leaflet we will look at two kinds of discernment. The first is how we learn to discern the good. The second is the charism of discernment of spirits (see 1 Cor 12: 10).
