Catechist Guides for parish programs provide a manageable one-day lesson plan for each of the twelve chapters. A single page at the start of each unit gives catechists an overview of the chapter themes and a few short quotations from Scripture and church documents related to the unit content. Two pages of theological and catechetical background will prepare catechists to teach the chapter content. The lesson planner provides a thumbnail sketch of the lesson process and its activities. Wraparound lesson plans are divided into three steps: Explore, Discover and Decide. A unique cross-curricular feature explores a key principle of Catholic social teaching and offers response activities at the end of each unit.
