Saint Mary Faustine Kowlaska
1905-1938
Feast Day -- October 5
Saint Mary Faustine Kowalska was born in Poland. She was the third of ten children. When she was twenty, she entered the Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. While praying one night, she had a vision of Jesus as the "King of Divine Mercy." He told her to tell the whole world that God was merciful and kind. She had a picture of Jesus painted showing rays of light coming from his heart. She is sometimes called the "Apostle of Divine Mercy."
Patron of World Youth Day. When she was canonized in April 2000. Saint Mary Faustina became the first Saint of the 21st Century.
