Saint Victor was the first Pope from Africa. When he was Pope, people couldn't agree when to celebrate and plan for the seasons of the Church year. Pope Victor and the bishops decided that Easter must be celebrated on Sunday. He knew it was important for people to understand the Mass, so he declared that it should be said in the language of the people. At that time, the language was Latin. Today, the Mass is in many languages.
Saint Victor was the first Pope to write theology in Latin. He was the fourteenth Pope.
Pater noster qui es in caelis: sanctificetur Nomen Tuum. (Our Father who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name.)
