Catholicism: The New Evangelization — Word on Fire

A documentary and multi-media formation program that explores the mission of the church within the challenges of contemporary culture. Hosted by Father Robert Barron, the documentary focuses on the cultural challenges the church faces today, such as the emergence of the "new atheism" and relativistic attitudes toward questions of faith and morality.

Lesson One: Introduction, where Father Barron explains how the concept of a "new" evangelization took shape in the Second Vatican Council. Lesson Two: New Ardor, which is constituted by new enthusiasm, new energy and renewal from the Holy Spirit. A behind the scenes look at World Youth Day and other examples of the new ardor. Lessons Three and Four: New Expressions Parts I and II where Father Barron explains why secularism and relativism are on the rise and why the same truth proclaimed and lived by Christ can be expressed in this different cultural setting. Lesson Five: New Methods, using the means and methods of our time to evangelize. Lesson Six: Faith in Action guides participants in developing their own action plan for evangelizing, either as individuals or as a Catholic group. (©2013)
