We Believe with Project Disciple ©2011 is rooted in Scripture, faithful to the tradition of the Catholic Church, and follows the directives in the General and National Directories for Catechesis. It is Christocentric, centering on the person of Jesus Christ; Trinitarian, inviting relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; and Ecclesial, supporting faith that is lived in the domestic church and the universal Church.
The 2011 edition features Project Disciple, in every chapter. Built on the six tasks of catechesis, Project Disciple pages contain hundreds of new content-based activities at every grade level. Students learn about Jesus Christ and their Catholic faith through Scripture and tradition. They celebrate their faith by learning about and participating in the liturgy and the sacraments. They choose to follow Jesus and to live the commandments and the Beatitudes. They pray every day in many different ways. They share in the lives of their families, their parish and their school, participating in the mission of spreading the Good News. And they learn to live their faith by giving witness to Christ in their words and deeds.
Student Books and Catechist Manuals are new in the 2011 edition. Other program components from the 2004 edition of We Believe are compatible with the new 2011 student books and catechist manuals. They include reproducible Assessment Books that offer standard tests along with creative alternative assessment ideas, CD-ROM Test Generators and Resources with testing options, a reporting function and more teacher resources, Music CDs that incorporate liturgical music from Oregon Catholic Press to foster children’s participation in parish worship. Review and Resource Books for each child provide additional activity and project worksheets. Family Books for each child help families teach or review lessons at home. The Family Catechesis book brings families (K-Adult) together for prayer, activities and sharing around unit themes based on program content.
