A religious education program rooted in the Catechism and centered on the gospel message. The program focuses on seven key themes, one for each year—Kindergarten: Creation; Grade 1: God; Grade 2: Jesus Christ; Grade 3: Church; Grade 4: Morality; Grade 5: Sacraments; and Grade 6: Salvation History. Each grade covers all seven themes, focused through the lens of its primary theme.
Student Books have 21 content chapters and seven seasonal chapters with stories, activities, Scripture, prayer, discussion and reflection. Each chapter offers checkpoint reviews, Catholic Prayers and Resources and a glossary. Student Faith Journals have two pages correlated to every textbook chapter. One uses questions and exercises to help the student explore the chapter theme. The second involves the whole family with a chapter summary, on-the-page activity and a family prayer. The journals include a section of traditional Catholic prayers in English and Spanish.
Catechist Guides are wraparound editions with planning pages and lesson plans, plus an extensive resource center with background information, expanded definitions, multicultural links and strategies to use with special needs students.
