Blest Are We Faith and Word 1-8, RCL Benziger
This is the Parish Program.
Student Books include five units, each with four chapters. Chapters are structured around the four pillars of the Catechism: Catholic faith, worship, life, and prayer. Each begins with a Take-Home page to involve parents in helping their children prepare for the chapter. Lessons follow a three-step learning process inviting the children to Share, to Hear and Believe, and to Respond. Each chapter includes Scripture and church teaching including statements of faith and Faith Words. Children respond through written work, activities and prayer. Chapters conclude with review exercises. Faith in Action pages highlight parish ministries and vocations. A write-in glossary and a mini-catechism are included at the back of each book. Grade 2 covers the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. Multimedia Catechist Guides for grades 1 through 6 include a grade-level DVD with clips on topics appropriate to the lessons. The At-A-Glance Planner lets the catechist know which portion of the DVD to show with each lesson. Catechist guides provide two reproducible activities for each chapter, which are also available separately in the Classroom Activities Books. Guides also include Helps for the Catechist and expanded sections on the liturgical year with special emphasis on Sunday Mass and the Holy Days. Listening to Scripture Audio CDs allow children in grades 1 to 4 to learn Scripture stories by listening to the audio CDs or by reading along in English or Spanish. Other Faith and Word edition resources include Unit Tests and Home Program Guides.
Music, Projects, and Classroom Activity Books for each grade level, all part of the earlier Blest Are We program (© 2002-05), are compatible with the new Faith and Word edition.
