Faith and Life 1-8, Ignatius
A comprehensive Catholic program that combines traditional Catholic artwork with a thorough doctrinal and scriptural presentation of basic Catholic teachings. The series focuses on what we believe (creed), what we do (commandments), the means to our end (sacraments and liturgy), and what we hope for (prayer and Scripture). Eight grade-level themes include the Trinity, Sacraments, salvation, Creed, Ten Commandments, grace, church history, and the structure of the church.
Student Books which are not consumable, have full-color photos and classic art. Question-and-answer sections emphasize the doctrinal elements. Quotations from Scripture, the liturgy, church documents, and the saints highlight important points. Each student book has vocabulary, a glossary and basic Catholic prayers.
Teacher/Catechist Manuals updated in 2009 feature a daily lesson plan layout over a 2-page wraparound format. The new layout and highlighted student text will make preparing for lessons easier. New spiral binding for all grades allows the book to remain open and facilitates photocopying reproducible quizzes and tests. Updated manuals have new quizzes and unit tests with complete answer keys as well as answer keys for Activity Book exercises at the end of each chapter. The inserted student pages have been updated so that the 2009 Teacher/Catechist Manuals are fully in sync with all the minor changes that have been made to the Student Texts over the last three years.
The program also includes an Activity Book for each grade level. These provide students with four activities for each lesson and are designed for classroom or home use.
