This series helps students become aware that Jesus is their Lord and Savior who leads them to the Father through his Spirit. With a focus on Scripture, the content blends core beliefs: creed, sacraments, commandments, and prayer. The program includes many traditional and familiar prayers, as well as Catholic vocabulary, all designed to instill a strong sense of Catholic identity.
Preschool Student Books are 12 x 11 bound tablets with 35 full-color lessons. On the back of each lesson card is a reinforcing activity and a Family Time column for parents. The Preschool Teacher/Catechist Manuals have easy-to-use lesson plans that can be adapted for 1-, 3-, or 5-day per week programs. The manuals also provide resources, craft ideas, teacher helps, Scripture cards and 67 full-color, large cutouts to use in class.
Student Books for Kindergarten through Grade 8 are worktexts with 25 core chapters and 5 to 14 supplementary liturgical lessons. The series utilizes a spiral curriculum that introduces basic truths in the early years and then deepens the level of learning as the students mature. Activities include word games, drawing, puzzles, drama and thoughtful reflection questions for the children. Short exercises help students review the units. Student books also have glossaries, seasonal supplements for Advent and Lent, and Family Features and Family Corners to encourage parental involvement. The Kindergarten student books come with a copy of A Child’s Bible. Each Grade 2 student book includes First Reconciliation and First Eucharist catechesis, and explains the structure and meaning of the Mass. Grade 2 student books come with Jesus Gives Me His Peace reconciliation booklets and Jesus Gives Himself, Mass books. Junior-high students will use the Bible as a text along with their student books.
The spiral-bound Teacher Manuals include simplified three-step lesson plans wrapped around a full-color student text, and a catechist handbook with 20 pages of practical tools, techniques, tips and resources. They also include scripts for new teachers, a useful planning calendar, family features, ideas for teaching exceptional children and tie-ins to the Catechism. Each manual comes with a set of blackline masters with reproducible tests and activities, and a free classroom poster. Kindergarten Teacher Manuals come with a set of 22 free posters. Grade 2 Teacher Manuals do not include a classroom poster.
