Brookhaven Christian Retreat is always seeking outstanding young people for our SUMMER MINISTRY TEAM. Summer staff members are typically hired between the months of January and March. Successful candidates will have: 

  • a personal and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ;
  • the heart of a servant;
  • a positive attitude;
  • a love for kids;
  • age 18-27
  • a capacity to relate well to campers, college-aged summer staff personnel and management;
  • strong swimming skills with the ability to become a certified lifeguard;
  • some knowledge of ropes course programs.

Summer Staff will report directly to the Summer Staff Directors. In addition to ropes course facilitation, lifeguarding, grounds keeping and hospitality services (cleaning, set-up, snack bar, serving in food service at times), he or she will also act as a liaison between guest groups and the retreat center, ensuring our guests a pleasant and successful stay at Brookhaven.

Brookhaven’s summer staffers will not only be trained in lifeguarding, CPR, ropes course facilitation (if necessary), and guest services, but each one will also receive spiritual training through participation in Bible studies and devotionals. This is a SEASONAL position active from May 28 to August 18 (approximately).

Compensation package includes $175/week, housing, and access to all the activities Brookhaven offers in a rich and fulfilling environment. Typically, there will also be a fun retreat off campus at summer’s end.

During the summer, Brookhaven hosts a full summer of fun-filled, life-changing experiences for youth groups and campers of all ages. More than 5,000 children, youth and families each summer attend camp or retreat sessions at our Christian Youth Camp and retreat center in the Tyler, Texas area, just two hours east of Dallas, TX. During the spring, fall, and winter seasons, Brookhaven offers the same experiences as our Christian summer camps, but through men's retreats, ladies' retreats, conferences, outdoor education programs, family reunions, day camps, and other events.
